About KAS

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is a political foundation active throughout Germany and abroad. Nationally and internationally, the KAS is committed to achieving and maintaining peace, freedom and justice through political education. We promote and preserve free democracy, the social market economy, and the development and consolidation of value consensus.

KAS has been active in Korea since 1978 as one of the first German political foundations. Our work is constantly changing in line with the region’s interests, needs and developments on the one hand and the foundation’s principles and current core issues on the other. KAS pursues three core objectives.

#KAS4Security

This objective focuses on the exchange of experts from the fields of foreign, security, economic and defense policy with each other as well as with relevant experts and decision-makers in the Indo-Pacific, but also with Europe and Germany. For example, we seek to deepen mutual understanding of the respective perceptions of China and new risks and threats among the countries in the Indo-Pacific and thereby contribute to the definition, development and implementation of suitable strategies for solving regional and global challenges.

#KAS4Democracy

Here, we are primarily trying to reach representatives of South Korea’s young generation who share fundamental ideas, convictions and values with us and are politically active, and to interest them in regional and international exchange, including in KAS formats.

#KAS4Innovation

Our focus is on the future of sustainable mobility. With the involvement of German and Korean stakeholders, we promote regional exchange formats on the vision and implementation of a mobility transition. We do not primarily focus on technological aspects, but rather concentrate on necessary and desirable framework conditions as well as disruptive effects on the economy and society.
